Dr. Garrett began her role at Corban in July of 2022 and serves as the Vice President for Community Belonging and Student Success. In this role, she provides leadership and strategic oversight for student retention efforts, the Registrar’s Office, Career Services, and Student Support Services, ensuring an engaging and thriving academic experience for all students. Dr. Garrett also oversees Corban’s global initiatives, working with Corban’s international students and collaborating with the university’s global partnerships. Prior to Corban, Dr. Garrett served as the director of the Thrive Center (Student Success Center) at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois. In this role, Dr. Garrett coordinated comprehensive support service programming for all students. Before her tenure in higher education, Dr. Garrett operated within corporate communications for UPS and Pritchard Capital Partners.

Being an astute academic, having graduated magna cum laude with both master’s degrees, Mechelle recently earned a Doctor of Education in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California.

In her spare time, Mechelle enjoys cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros.

NWCCU ACCREDITATION

Corban University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and completed a Year-Seven Comprehensive (Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness (EIE)) in 2022 for continued accreditation. The comprehensive self-study was followed by an onsite evaluation in October 2022. In February 2023, Corban received reaffirmation of its accreditation for 7 years. Corban University’s last Mid-Cycle Evaluation was fall 2018, and its Policies, Regulations and Financial Review (PRFR) was completed in fall 2021. As of our most recent evaluation, Corban University is compliant with the Standards, Policies, and Eligibility Requirements of the NWCCU.
