About Campus Safety
Our Campus Safety Officers are state certified through the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. Our team is made up of exceptional officers who negotiate a rigorous application, interview, and training process. Officers are carefully screened and trained to ensure they meet the unique needs of Corban University. Campus Safety Officers’ primary duties are patrol, enforcement, and incident reporting.
While on duty and within the scope of their assigned duties, Campus Safety Officers have the authority to investigate anyone they suspect of committing a crime on campus or surrounding jurisdictions. Officers also have the power to enforce state laws pertaining to the safety and wellbeing of our community members. Officers may request identification from people on campus, issue trespass orders and campus citations, and when imminent safety risks exist, may make arrests.
If a student commits minor offenses involving University rules and regulations, the Office of Campus Safety may refer the individual to the Office of Student Life. Other more serious offenses of University rules and regulations may also be investigated and handled by the Office of Campus Safety.
All criminal offenses such as murder, rape, assault, robbery, and auto theft are reported to the Salem Police Department, and joint investigative efforts with investigators from the University and the Salem Police Department may be deployed to solve these serious felony crimes.
The Office of Campus Safety’s jurisdiction extends only to the boundaries of University-owned-and-operated property. Any crime that occurs outside the boundaries of the University should be reported immediately to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
