Lily Ellerton had been two months away from graduating college when she married who she’d thought was the love of her life. She had known him for nine years, so when everything lined up for them to get married, she jumped in with both feet. But he wasn’t the man she’d thought he was. Her new marriage quickly derailed her education, and she quit school before earning her degree.
Maryann (’97) had no aspirations to write a book, much less a novel that combines romance with terrorism in the White House! But while studying Esther, Maryann began to imagine how the story of Esther would have unfolded today. Her personal notes eventually turned into a gripping novel that challenges believers of all ages to step out in faith.
At first, Melody didn’t see how a four-year degree in music would be practical—especially a degree in piano performance. So she decided to major in accounting instead, and keep piano as a minor. But the longer Melody studied at Corban, the more she realized she wanted music to play a bigger role in her life.
“You either serve God or you serve money,” Corban alumnus Jeff Coffey was told over and over in his early days in ministry. For years, Jeff tried to adhere to the idea that ministry should be free from the bonds of business. But his creativity and entrepreneurial mind kept insisting otherwise.
“Truly, I do not like the book Alice in Wonderland.” Coming from Corban alumna Rachel Ost, the statement is a bit surprising. After all, Alice in Wonderland was the inspiration behind her very first full-length show, Alice—the show she’s directing at Corban University this spring.
Liz (Hamre) Dunn and her husband Nate Dunn have been singing and writing music together since they were both involved in music at Corban. Today they write for Melody & Truth, a group comprised of Nate, Liz, and a revolving collective of local musicians.
A 2014 graduate of Corban University, Caleb has used his degree in elementary education in unexpected ways, first with a private Christian elementary school in Indonesia and then with Devslopes.

Corban University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and completed a Year-Seven Comprehensive (Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness (EIE)) in 2022 for continued accreditation. The comprehensive self-study was followed by an onsite evaluation in October 2022. In February 2023, Corban received reaffirmation of its accreditation for 7 years. Corban University’s last Mid-Cycle Evaluation was fall 2018, and its Policies, Regulations and Financial Review (PRFR) was completed in fall 2021. As of our most recent evaluation, Corban University is compliant with the Standards, Policies, and Eligibility Requirements of the NWCCU.
